About karate.qa
Traditional Japanese karate in Doha, taught to the JKS syllabus by a 6th Dan head coach.
karate.qa is the karate home of Chi Club, founded in Qatar in 2014 by Sensei Najmal Ibrahim. We teach traditional Japanese karate to children and adults at five locations across Doha.
Our karate follows the syllabus of JKS, the Japan Karate Shoto Federation, so students learn the same techniques, kata and grading standards as dojos in Japan.
Children are at the heart of the club. Karate teaches them to look after themselves, and along the way they gain confidence, discipline and respect for others.

Our head coach
Every class follows the teaching of Sensei Najmal Ibrahim, 6th Dan black belt, direct member of JKS and certified kata and kumite referee and judge. He has trained in karate since 2001 and founded Chi Club in 2014.
Trained in Japan
Sensei Najmal has travelled to Japan to train in traditional dojos and attend karate events, so what our students learn in Doha comes from the source.

JKS Shotojuku
Our karate follows the syllabus of JKS, the Japan Karate Shoto Federation. Our dojo name, 松涛塾 (Shotojuku), means “school of Shoto”, after the pen name of Gichin Funakoshi, the founder of Shotokan.
The tiger in our emblem is the traditional symbol of Shotokan karate. The calligraphy beside it, 奈樹真留, is Sensei Najmal’s name, written in his own hand.
